Kooper Ty-His Birth Story
Kooper's Birth Story
Tenlee came 2 weeks early so I was really hoping that this baby would be early as well, and my doctor was pretty sure it would. The last few days leading up to Kooper's birth are almost identical to the days before Tenlee was born, which is kind of neat. I was an emotional wreck the week before he was born. Tenlee came down with a nasty cold which ended with a bad cough, and then Tyler came down with it. I was so bummed thinking that if the baby came no one was going to be able to hold or kiss it and my perfect idea of Tenlee and the baby wasn't going to happen. And then that weekend I came down with it. Luckly, God cleared everything up by the time Kooper arrived.
Monday November 11-I had been having contractions on and off, but they were more like cramping and not very painful. I was just aware that they were there. We had been hoping to have the baby on 11-12-13 so that afternoon when they started to pick up a little, I told Tyler we should go to Walmart and get some needed groceries and just walk for a while. After shopping and eating, I started timing my contractions, they were coming every 3-4 minutes. I told Tyler this was probably the real thing, but as soon as we got home they stopped.
I continued drinking the tea and using the ball into Tuesday November 12th, but nothing...like no contractions at all. I actually felt better than I had in weeks, if not months. My mom kept saying it was the calm before the storm. I had my original appointment scheduled for that Friday which would have been almost 38 weeks, but we switched it to that Wed because I was so anxious to see if I had made any progress at all. It was such a depressing appointment. I was still the same as I had been the week before. 2cm and 50% ephased, and she informed me that she would be south of Indy all day Thursday so she joked and said either have this baby today or wait till tomorrow around 6 so she would back in time. The same thing happened with Tenlee, except she was gone an entire week in another country the day after Tenlee was born. I actually laughed when I got into the car because I just love how God is always showing me that his plans are WAY BETTER than mine could ever be and I just need to trust him with everything. She did tell me that if I had any contractions like I did on Monday to just head down to the hospital and she would help me get things started by breaking my water. Not even 10 minutes after we left the office, my contractions started back up. I got back home around 12:15 and had been having them constistanly for about 20-30min. I went ahead and put Tenlee down for a nap and started timing them. I also drank another full glass of tea and literally walked around my house for the next hr and a half. I finally called my Dr and they told me to head to the hospital, but to come quick since this was my second baby. I called Tyler right away at work and asked him if he was ready to have a baby. At first he kind of argued with me saying they would probably stop but after telling him the dr gave us the go to head down he was good. I think he was more nervous than I was:) The plan if Tyler was at work was to have my mother-in-law drive me to his work and then the two of us would head to the hospital. But my water had not broke, and I really wasn't in too much pain so I thought 15 minutes wouldn't be too bad for me to drive myself. I woke up Tenlee and dropped her off to my in-laws.
On the way to the hospital after getting Tyler, I started to get sick to my stomach and just getting scared to death. I did not have an epideral with Tenlee so I knew exactly how bad the pain would be and I was just hoping I would be able to stick to my plan and not get one with this baby as well. We got to the hospital at exactly 3:00pm. We prayed before we went into the hospital and after that I was just ready and so excited to meet this baby! My mom was planning on being in the room with us again, but we told her to just wait at home until we knew for sure they were going to keep me.
They checked me at 4:00 and I was still 2cm but was 65% ephased. I was still slightly disappointed that I had not made any progress and was worried they would send me home. I really wanted to walk as much as possible with this one. I didn't with Tenlee and pulled muscles in both of my legs with her and couldn't walk the next day. So from 4:30-6 I walked the hallway. They checked me again at 6:00pm and I was at 3cm and 75% ephased. They went ahead and offically admitted me. At 6:45 my doctor arrived...very happy to see me...and broke my water. Shortly after they broke my water, my mom arrived...and my contractions really started coming. After giving me my I.V., getting in and out of the wirlpool...they checked me at 8:00 and I was at 5cm. At 8:50 I was still at 5 but the babies head was right there.
At 10:15 they checked me again and I was at 6cm. The last 45 minutes went so fast, it still seems like a big blur. Around 10:50 I told the nurse that I really needed to pee. They were actually happy because she figured that would help me progress. I had been on the labor bouncy ball for about a half an hr and while on there I felt a small urge to push, but didn't think anything about it. Well as soon as I got on the toilet I had to push. All I remember is hearing the nurses all yell to get the dr now because this baby was coming. They had to hurry and get me back to bed or else the baby would have been born in the bathroom. I literally got on the bed and Dr. Hatcher arrived and within 7 minutes Kooper Ty arrived at 11:00pm weighing in at 7.13 pounds which shocked everyone, considering he was 17 days early. The dr. thought he would be a little bigger, but not almost 8lbs!
I have heard that second babies can come a lot quicker...but I did not think he would come that quick. I was in hard labor with Tenlee for 11 hours, but only 3 hard hours with Kooper. It was so much quicker, but I also think his labor and delivery was MUCH MUCH more painful and a lot harder then Tenlee's.
Tyler and I both thought the baby was a girl the whole time, so we were both shocked when she said it was a boy. I love that my mom got both of our expressions as soon as we heard those words.
So very perfect!!
One of my favorite pictures of him...he looks so chubby here!
As much as I wanted another girl...he just melted my heart!!
Her first look at Kooper! She was SOOOO excited to meet him!
First picture of a family of 4
Kooper now shares a birthday with Great grandpa Harold...he sure is proud!
Took the same picture with Tenlee
One of my favorites with my sweet babies!
His name choice:
Kooper was really the only boy's name we came up with. We both loved it right away and never came up with any more. I wanted to stick with T's and K's since so far that is what we have for our little family. We had a T and a K name picked out if the baby would have been a girl. So now it is just perfect with Tyler, Kellie, Tenlee and Kooper! His middle name was a lot harder. Tyler had a middle name picked out the whole time that I hated...so his cousin actually suggested Ty for the middle name and I LOVED it. I typically call Tyler...Ty, so I loved that Kooper would be named after his daddy without it being so obvious.
My two perfect angels!!!!!
