My very first week of homeschooling is officially done! Whew! And I can honestly say it went better than I had envisioned in my head. The one thing I had said I was going to start and then stick with was our start time. I had said that she would be up by 7:30 and had to be dressed, breakfast done, and ready to start at 8 sharp. Well it was good if we started by 9:30 or 10. Mornings are extremely hectic in our house. Both of my boys are not morning people and they both are very needy in the mornings. So it actually worked out great starting school when we put the baby down for his morning nap. Then we had from 10 to noon to get our main schooling done. For now until I can get more organized and figure out a before boys gets up schedule, this will be our time frame for school. 2 of my best friends and I have started a "Co-op" group for our kids. We meet 2 mornings a month and then also have a planned field trip each month. Our first class was this past week and I was great! We have an art, science, reading and music/"gym" class. It is so awesome to start this journey with these girls and I cannot wait to see where this new journey takes us all!
I love the one of Tenlee and daddy. They prayed together and
I was so excited he was home on her first day.
She looked at me after we took our picture told me she wanted to let the balloon go and it would go clear up to heaven for Jesus to see. Then he would know that she was starting school. We decided that this was a very special idea, one that we may do each year.
I am a book worm and lately I have a slight obsession on getting
the kids books. I want them to love reading as much as I do! I was so excited to
find all of these books at the flea market this past week.
We finished up this day with a scavenger hunt..she used her magnifying
glass and had to find certain things we had talked about the first few days.
I will be honest...I LOVE having a clean house but I NEVER have a clean house. I love being organized but I can never stay organized. The first few weeks leading up to our first day...I had everything in order and even had the house looking great. But literally after one morning this is how it looked. I have come to the realiztion that this is me...I'm not dirty, but I will never be organized like I intend to be.
He asks to do school everyday when Tenlee and I are working so I have a mega coloring
book and he is working on learning colors and coloring mommy pictures.
book and he is working on learning colors and coloring mommy pictures.
We played bingo and she LOVED it and she also did
a great job of remembering almost every letter.
She has struggled with J and L the first week and then U and V the second week. So
we tried salt in a bowl and that really helped her. Plus she had fun doing it:)
Showing daddy her Creation book she had to make the first 7 days of school.
Making this decision has been the hardest thing. Most people are not 100% for homeschooling, but for our family this was how we felt Christ was leading us. And to some...we are crazy and not doing the best thing for our daughter. But for now, I have absolutely no regrets and I am loving it!
